Join Zac's Bike-A-Thon Fundraiser on September 8

Join Zac's Bike-a-Thon Fundraiser for El Nido Family Centers

As we begin to celebrate El Nido’s hundredth year, one of El Nido's long-time student tutors, Zac Shapiro, has organized a Bike-A-Thon fundraiser to support El Nido’s programs.

The Sunday, September 8th event is a guided bike ride (10, 20 and 30 miles), starting at Will Rogers Beach.

Zac welcomes anyone with a bike to come out and participate.  Anyone who wishes to sponsor a rider is invited to donate.

A Message from Zac

Zac's Bike-A-Thon

My name is Zac Shapiro, and I am a rising senior at Palisades High School and an avid cyclist. As some of you may know, I spend my free time biking all across Los Angeles. However, you may not know that I also dedicate my time volunteering with El Nido Family Centers, an LA non profit serving only the LA County community. El Nido’s mission is to empower families in low-income communities of Los Angeles County to break the cycle of poverty, child abuse, violence, academic failure, and teen pregnancy through outstanding educational, youth development, health, and therapeutic services (if you want to know more about El Nido, please visit their About page...

My time spent volunteering at El Nido is incredibly rewarding, as is being able to contribute to the amazing El Nido community. In order to raise money for El Nido, I am organizing a bike ride on the beach bike path across the Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica, and would be grateful if you would ride in the Bike - a - Thon and/or pledge a donation based on my biking or someone else's. There are several ways you can participate in the Bike - a - Thon. You can bike yourself, you can pledge a certain amount to support a biker, or you can pledge an amount per mile biked (by me, you or somebody else). If you participate in any of these ways, I would be very appreciative and you will be supporting an amazing organization.

Day of Event Information

For those who intend to ride with us, the bike ride will take place on Sunday September 8th, meeting in the beach parking lot at Will Rogers Beach (where Temescal Canyon Road intersects the PCH). If you will be attending, please complete the link above (“for riders” section) and fill out the form which includes a request for your email address. As the date approaches, I will email the riders with additional detailed information. However, the current plan is to gather at approximately 8:30 A.M. and begin biking by 9:00 A.M. We will offer guided rides of 10, 20 and 30 miles (though you can ride as much or as little as you like).

Riders will be asked to obtain sponsors and we will have prizes for the top three riders based on amounts obtained from their sponsors.

I am so excited to see you all, and hope that you can join me and/or contribute to this awesome activity and great cause.

*While all donations will go to El Nido Family Centers, this is not an El Nido sponsored event
