IRS-certified volunteers provide free, basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns are encouraged to participate.

What to bring:
Please bring the following documents to your appointment:
All taxpayers must be present with photo identification.
Social Security Cards and/or ITIN letters everyone you list on your return.
Birthdates for all the people you list on your return.
All income statements, such as Forms W-2 and 1099, Social Security and unemployment compensation, as well as other statements such as pensions, stocks, interest and any documents showing taxes withheld.
If you are self-employed or make cash, collect records of all your income and expenses.
All records of other expenses such as tuition, student loan interest, mortgage interest, or real estate taxes on Form 1098.
If you purchased insurance coverage through Covered California, Forms 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.
Bank routing numbers and account numbers to direct deposit for any refund.
You may be eligible for these tax credits when you file:
Earned Income Tax Credit & California Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC & CalEITC)
If you make less than $67,000 annually, you may qualify for up to $11,000 from the Cal EITC and Federal EITC combined – but only if you file.
The Federal EITC is a refundable credit available to low-to-moderate income individuals and families that is worth up to $6,935.
The California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) has expanded individuals, regardless of immigration status, can expect up to $3,644 regardless of immigration status.
Child Tax Credit (CTC)
The Child Tax Credit has been updated for 2023 and 2024 to offer $2,000 per child under 17. Use this money for medical expenses, groceries, or invest in your children's education and well-being.
Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC)
If you have a child under the age of 6 and have earned income of less than 30,000, you may be eligible for the Young Child Tax Credit. It's a helpful credit for families with lower incomes. It can give you more money back on your taxes, which you can use to support your child's needs or save for their future.
Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
ITIN Holders may now qualify for the CalEITC and the Young Child Tax Credit! The amount of your refundable tax credit depends on your income and the size of your family.

About the FamilySource Centers (FSC)
The FamilySource Centers (FSC) are collaborative one-stop community centers designed to assist low-income residents in the City of Los Angeles to become self-sufficient by increasing family income and academic achievement for youth and adults.
FSCs offer services including; counseling, parent education, employment assistance, legal aid, financial literacy classes, adult education, tutoring & homework help, benefits screening, recreational & cultural activities, youth leadership development and community events.
About Free Tax Prep Los Angeles (FTPLA)
Free Tax Prep LA was started in 2017 to help Angelenos who qualify file their taxes for free. In Los Angeles County they offer free tax preparation services in different languages, as well as financial advisory.
The Free Tax Prep Los Angeles campaign is a partnership between the City of Los Angeles Children Investment Family Department (CIFD), the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Business Affairs (DCBA), Koreatown Youth + Community Center (KYCC), and United Way of Greater Los Angeles.
